SUMMARY:Emily and the Space Butterflies: Fragile Album Release Show
DESCRIPTION:Join Emily and the Space Butterflies for their album release show! With support from Polivon and Rhino Shrine. \nEmily and the Space Butterflies\nEmily and The Space Butterflies was spontaneously formed in February 2023 at a music teacher convention. Based in Minneapolis\, the band is composed of five classically trained musicians and music educators. Drawing inspiration from the realms of pop\, rock\, and the narratives of female singer-songwriters\, Emily Malmgren’s songwriting serves as the cornerstone of the band. The band’s collaborative process shapes what starts as a voice memo of Emily and her piano into unique arrangements that highlight each member\, infusing each song with technical precision and creative flair. With infectious energy and catchy melodies\, Emily and The Space Butterflies aim to always leave you wanting more. \n \nPolivon\nPolivon was formed in Summer of 2023\, when our singer Andrew Njogu asked a few of his high school buddies to join him in writing tunes to perform live. We set out to play a few local bars\, and hosted a few shows in our garage practice space(since moved out) in Como Mpls over this past summer. We generally revolve around styles rooted in 60s-70s pop-rock\, with long and driving jams to melt your ears\, often infused with elements of R&B\, country\, and stories about love. Each member brings their own unique touch brought by their differing musical backgrounds\, blending into a spontaneous and diverse selection of music\, including many covers! \n  \nRhino Shrine\nRhino Shrine was formed in 2017 when the high school project The Crak Pots decided to do some lineup and style changes. Lifelong friends Gavin Jarl (Lead Vocals\, Guitar)\, Bud Hjelmberg (Lead Guitar)\, and Adam Trelstad (Keys\, Trumpet) were joined by Ben Ranney (Bass) and Martin Corral (Drums) and with the release of their first single Tangerine Dream\, they began crafting a sound both unique to themselves and right at home in the Minneapolis scene.

SUMMARY:J-Mo on the Beat and the J-Lighters with The Rowdy Gents
DESCRIPTION:J-Mo on the Beat and the J-Lighters\nJamie Passewe (J-Mo On The Beat) is a singer-songwriter and musician born and raised in Saint Paul\, Minnesota. His music reflects on the styles of the 50s and early 60s\, as well as a touch of alternative and indie rock. His sound is influenced by artists such as Elvis Presley\, Michael Jackson\, Cliff Richard\, Stephen Sanchez\, and Billy Fury. He started performing at the age of 10 with dancing and explored becoming a music artist as a full on life journey in high school. He is now a college graduate (from Saint Paul College) with the support from his community\, which he calls his “J-Lighters”. He loves to play the local Twin Cities spots like Caydence Records and Coffee\, Kj’s Hideaway\, White Squirrel\, and more\, as both as a solo artist or with his amazing band\, The J-Lighters! \n \nThe Rowdy Gents\nThe Rowdy Gents are a rockabilly band that formed in February of 2021 in Minneapolis\, MN through the love of early rock & roll and a series of lucky Craigslist inquiries. The original lineup of the band consisted of singer/guitarist\, Kody Gerard\, bassist/harmonicist\, Nolan Larson\, and drummer\, Kellan Pontarolo in which they recorded and released singles (‘Til Then) I’ll Be Blue/My Babe and Five More Days/You Did Me Right in April of 2022. In June of 2022\, Pontarolo left the band and was soon replaced by Jake Pomasl. The band later released their first full album\, Old Fashioned Love Songs in December of 2023. The Rowdy Gents pull inspiration from the classic artists of the 1950’s to deliver a fun\, entertaining sound that you can’t help but dance to. \n \n

DESCRIPTION:Hosted by Phil Kolas \nFeatured Comedians:\nChris Maddock\nFrom the land of sunkissed beer guts\, Stillwater\, MN\, in the scenic St. Croix Valley\, Chris Maddock is a gorgeous and classically styled stand up comedian\, made of solid grapes-47% Comic\, 19% Hot Waiter Guy\, with the rest amounting to pure Country Music Legend. Chris performed in the 43rd Annual San Francisco Comedy Competition in 2018\, with deep aromas of violet and cassis giving way to a leathery texture and a touch of charred beef. He’d do well in the Cellar. For 15 years beginning in 2003\, Chris “Mad Dog” Maddock hosted the storied Death Comedy Jam\, a weekly hub of MPLS comedy and subject of a documentary film\, “Death’s Last Stand”. He recorded his first comedy album\, Point of Entry\, at the legendary Minneapolis rock ganglion First Avenue in the 7th St. Entry\, and released it in 2012 on the Grammy Award winning Stand Up! Records. In 2014 Minneapolis weekly organ City Pages named him Stand Up Comic of the Year\, and his 2nd record and special is being released in 2020 under the appellation Country Music Legend. He lives in Minneapolis with his son\, Waylon\, and his better half\, who is also named Kryss\, but spells it weird. \n\nAteh Ekinde\nArmed with the casual confidence of an agent of chaos\, this comedian brings a laid-back brand of foolishness to every stage. He’s here for a good time – and if the audience wants to join in on the fun\, well\, that’s cool too. \n\n\n\nLuis Uz\nLuis Uz is a Hispanic comic from the sleepy town of Montrose\, Minnesota In his short time doing comedy\, Luis has performed nationally\, spreading awareness that being called “one of the good ones” is not an actual compliment. He co-hosts Good Ones: a comedy show with Elizabeth Selin.

His music reflects on the styles of the 50s and early 60s\, as well as a touch of alternative and indie rock. His sound is influenced by artists such as Elvis Presley\, Michael Jackson\, Cliff Richard\, Stephen Sanchez\, and Billy Fury. He started performing at the age of 10 with dancing and explored becoming a music artist as a full on life journey in high school. He is now a college graduate (from Saint Paul College) with the support from his community\, which he calls his “J-Lighters”. His most recent EP\, “A Taste Of Blue”\, featuring Annie Thoma of Killed by Kiwis\, he considers his best work to date. \n \nFragged Out\nFragged Out is a Hardcore/Post Hardcore band from Minneapolis that refuses to be bound to just one sound. Banjo\, Mandolin\, Upright Bass\, and Acoustic Guitar play off each other reaching both interstellar space and a universal familiarity. Their song catalog ranges from short and sweet Bill Monroe to here and now Lil Nas X. As well as catchy originals like “Time Machine” and long renditions of Grateful Dead classics. \nSince 2019 Buffalo Galaxy has played over 300 shows around the US\, from Washington to North Carolina. They are a staple in the midwest bluegrass and jam scenes. In Recent Years\, they revved up their tour schedule playing further and farther from their home in Minneapolis. He’s also had several finals appearances in comedy competitions including Fargo’s Funniest Person contest\, the Funniest Person Contest at Acme Comedy Club in Minneapolis\, and the Funniest Person in Minneapolis contest at Sisyphus Brewing. He’s also a regular at venues across Minneapolis including Sisyphus and The Comedy Corner Underground and The House of Comedy\, all known for having nationally touring headliners. Along with being a featured stand-up in Minneapolis’ MN Comedy blog. He’s currently working at clubs and bars across the midwest delivering sharp\, witty comedy\, with a twist of silliness and always with a clever\, midwest sensibility. \n  \nTom Swifty\nTom Swifty started doing comedy in NYC about 11 years ago\, in hopes of “money\, cash\, hoes.” He is still patiently awaiting all of the above. A semifinalist in Acme’s Funniest Person in the Twin Cities Contest 2024\, Swifty has been described as “surprisingly wholesome” and he’ll take it. \n  \n  \n  \nTrey Charles\nTrey Charles\, the swagged-out stand-up comic from Saint Cloud\, Minnesota\, known for his sharp wit and relatable humor\, is the voice behind the popular Goat Mentality Podcast. Trey brings a unique perspective to the comedy scene\, blending insightful commentary with laugh-out-loud moments. Consistently bringing that swag to the stage and the mic!

Lead by Milwaukee native Bridget Cushman\, the band continues to explore the Minneapolis Metro performing throughout the cities\, bringing the funk to venues such as Minnesota Music Cafe\, Day Block Brewing\, and Underground Music Cafe. \n \nHunny Bear\nHUNNY BEAR is a funk/fusion quartet located in Minneapolis\, MN. Featuring a combination of styles and performing music ranging from modern covers\, funk standards\, fresh sounds and originals\, everyone is sure to enjoy the cool vibes and energy at any performance. Featuring Dan Anderson on saxophone and vocals\, Dan Abel on guitar\, J Cole Blodgett on bass guitar and Cartier Lafayette on drums\, this group has been a part of Open Streets and the Music in the Parks series\, and can be seen at a number of venues in the metro area including\, but not limited to\, 331 Club\, The White Squirrel Bar\, Can Can Wonderland\, Palmers and many more. \n \nEmerson Island\nWith a soulful style reminiscent of 2000’s piano pop and a touch of emo expressionism\, Emerson’s music is an ode to self-doubt\, fading friendships\, and the beautiful challenge of coexisting with others. Born in Milwaukee\, raised in the suburbs of Washington DC\, he now makes his home in Northeast Minneapolis where he makes music with Ben Smethurst (guitar)\, Zeke Cowan (drums)\, and Gavin Taylor (bass). His newly released song Fault Lines (with Lowjam) explores the ways our relationship with our planet mirrors our relationships with each other.

Their rowdy\, whiskey-soaked blend of rock and folk which careens wildly through the realms of American and Irish tradition is heralded as “trailblazing” by fans and derided as “absolute sacrilege” by traditionalists and clergy.\n\n\nListen on Spotify\n\nPine & Fire\n \nPine & Fire is a working class folk duo from the north woods of Minnesota\, formed by longtime best friends\, Jobi Adams and Brandi Foster. They blend traditional roots music influences with a modern punk sentiment\, creating a unique and driving sound. Together they sing original songs woven with themes of love\, escapism\, home\, and growth. Since their start as pine & fire in 2019\, they have released three self-produced projects. In 2020 they released their debut EP\, ‘We’re All Thinking It…’. In 2021\, they released ‘the son’\, a vulnerable\, cohesive project created and written by Jobi and accompanied and produced by Brandi. In August of 2022 they released a six song EP called People Come and Go \, which takes us through the ups and downs of navigating human relationships. Actor on the cable access show Cable HotDish. \n  \n  \n  \n  \n\n\n\n\nNathan Fulsebakke\nNathan Fulsebakke started comedy in December 2015 in a basement bar in Fargo\, ND that reeked of stale beer and urinal cakes. Since his auspicious debut he has performed from Minneapolis\, MN to Missoula\, MT\, along with dozens of small town bars in between. His comedic stories touch on the dirtiest of subjects\, but he does his best to deliver them with a big ol’ spoonful of North Dakota nice. In 2016 Nathan won the North Dakota Comedy Contest presented by Level 2 Comedy Club in Fargo. And in 2018 he won the 701 Comedy Competition.

DESCRIPTION:Samuel John Band\nThe Samuel John Band is a dynamic country rock ensemble rooted in the heart of Minnesota. Hailing from the small town of Braham\, MN\, Samuel John found his musical calling through the inspiring performances of his mother\, a pianist and vocalist\, and witnessing his brother Ben drum for a touring country band. Samuel\, also a frequent concert-goer\, drew inspiration from watching his favorite songwriters in the independent country and rock scene. Joined by longtime friend Jake Abel on bass\, whose experience spans multiple bands\, and meeting Brandon Nelson\, the lead guitarist\, through spontaneous jams at the Monday night Terminal Bar open sessions in Minneapolis\, the band found its core. John Wander\, previously collaborating with Brandon\, completed the lineup on drums. Together\, they’re doing their best to create an authentic and original country rock sound. \n \nOf the Orchard\nMinneapolis-based pop-rock band Of The Orchard proudly defines themselves as “not\, not a boy band.” Marked by a tinge of youthful angst\, Of The Orchard pairs a nostalgic sound of 90s and early 2000s rock (Third Eye Blind\, Fall Out Boy\, Jimmy Eat World) with narrative\, sentimental lyrics (Dawes\, Noah Kahan\, Kacey Musgraves). This combination gives listeners thoughtful lyricism supported with upbeat\, hook-driven rock. Their songs tell stories familiar to anyone who’s ever endured the transition into adulthood: finding purpose\, coming to terms with identities you’ve outgrown\, and falling in and out of love.
