SUMMARY:Benefit Concert for Tim Turner
DESCRIPTION:Benefit Concert for Tim Turner\nFeaturing Musical Performances by Chin Whiskers Band\, Lazarus & AJ Stone and Forrest Hunter \nTim Turner’s Story \nHey there. I hope that his note finds you well! Thanks in advance for your interest in my journey.\nI had an ACL repair in April of 2025\, and rehab seemed to go well\, other than an occasional fall. I chalked up these falls to recovering from knee surgery. After completing Physical Therapy rehab\, I resumed normal activities\, and I went back to work. Others noticed changes in my walking\, and how I looked\, but I didn’t see the changes. I thought everything was going along just fine\, but I was wrong about that…\nDecember 1st\, 2025-I understand that I had 3 falls. The last fall ended with an ambulance ride\, and a couple of days in the hospital for scans\, and observation. This is where the tumor was discovered. It is a benign\, large\, slow growing tumor. The tumor prevented the circulation of fluids out of the skull\, resulting in increased pressure in the brain which caused\, poor balance\, memory loss\, and hearing loss(left side).\nDecember 8th\, 2025- A shunt was placed at the right rear of my skull\, to decrease the pressure inside. Thankfully\, the shunt helped prevent more falls\, and bought some time until surgery could be scheduled for the tumor.\nMarch 9th 2026-Surgery happened early and continued for 16 hours(due to the delicate nerves involved and how the tumor was/is involved in them).  The surge\nComplications..\nLeft side facial paralysis\, silent aspiration with swallowing\, 2 types of pneumonia (which required strong antibiotics\, and intubation for 1 week). During this time\, I lost over 25 pounds\, and I was very weak. I am still receiving tube feedings(which may last a while)\, but I am able to eat some pureed foods.\nRehab\nAfter the pneumonias were resolved\, I got admitted to an Inpatient Rehabilitation\, program for 3 weeks\, that included Speech Therapy(cognition/swallowing)\, Occupational Therapy(regaining fine motor movement)\, and Physical Therapy(balance/walking). I was discharged to home on April 16th. Luckily\, my wife Kari is a nurse and has been able to work from home and care for me. I have been going to outpatient PT/OT\, and Speech Therapies 2x weekly for each since I’ve been home. I am not able to drive\, yet.  I have an amazing support network that have been getting me to these appointments.(Thank you!!!).\nThe future is uncertain\, another surgery is possible\, radiation to shrink the remainder of the tumor or both. I would love to go back to work\, and drive but these may take a while.\n\nChin Whiskers Band \nChin Whiskers Band is a Minnesota-based group dedicated to delivering authentic\, crowd-pleasing live music with a rootsy spirit and a passion for great songs. Blending classic rock\, Americana\, country\, blues\, and danceable favorites\, the band creates an energetic atmosphere that keeps audiences singing along and filling the dance floor. Known for their approachable stage presence and strong musicianship\, Chin Whiskers Band brings people together through timeless music and genuine connection. Whether performing at community events\, breweries\, festivals\, or local venues\, they deliver a fun\, memorable experience that celebrates the best traditions of live music and Minnesota hospitality.\n\nLazarus & AJ Stone\nAJ Stone & Lazarus unite two seasoned Minnesota songwriters for a performance rooted in authenticity\, storytelling\, and musical chemistry. Blending elements of Americana\, folk\, rock\, and singer-songwriter traditions\, the duo delivers heartfelt songs\, rich harmonies\, and dynamic performances that connect deeply with audiences. Lazarus brings years of touring\, songwriting\, and recording experience\, having released multiple albums and built a reputation as a compelling Minneapolis-based artist. Together\, AJ Stone and Lazarus create an intimate yet powerful live experience\, balancing thoughtful lyricism\, memorable melodies\, and genuine stage presence. Their performances showcase the craft of songwriting and the enduring power of human connection through music. \nForrest Hunter\nForrest Hunter is a Minnesota-based singer-songwriter known for his raw\, honest storytelling and roots-driven sound that blends Americana\, folk\, and classic rock influences. Drawing inspiration from life on the road\, everyday struggles\, and quiet moments of reflection\, his music captures a deeply human perspective delivered with simplicity and emotional weight. \nWith a growing catalog of original songs and independent releases\, Forrest Hunter has built a reputation for authentic songwriting and intimate live performances across the Upper Midwest. His sound is shaped by traditional troubadour influences while maintaining a modern\, personal voice that resonates with listeners seeking sincerity over polish. \nWhether performing solo acoustic sets or fuller arrangements\, Forrest Hunter delivers engaging shows rooted in connection\, narrative\, and heartfelt expression\, continuing to carve out his place in Minnesota’s independent music scene.

Think Old 97’s and Ted Leo too\, as these are common names mentioned when describing the Over Unders’ simple but complete sound. Principal songwriter Sam Hellman crafts songs filled with heartfelt observations and honest storytelling\, giving the band a timeless appeal that resonates with fans of classic and modern rock alike. Their 2022 EP No Soap Radio helped establish the group as a rising force in the regional scene\, with tracks like “Rhonda” earning over 58\,000 Spotify streams and helping land performances at iconic venues such as Minneapolis’ 7th St. Entry and Wisconsin’s Rockfest. Now\, the band continues to build momentum behind their 2025 LP Faces and Time. \nOpening the night is Monarch\, a Twin Cities-based five-piece whose sound blends heavy psychedelic rock influences from the ‘60s and ‘70s with the dreamy textures of modern indie music. Currently working on her debut album\, Fiona Hayes stands at the forefront of the modern\, female-led punk resurgence—proof that rebellion has no age limit. \nJoining the bill\, Sugarcoat bring their nostalgic yet fresh mid-2000s emo sound to the stage. Emerging from Minneapolis’s dive-bar circuit\, their dynamic blend of punchy guitars and melodic hooks nods to bands like Jimmy Eat World and Taking Back Sunday. Members John Schreier\, Sean Winner\, Charlie Schwandt\, and Tyler Smith fuse their distinct artistic backgrounds into a sound that’s emotional\, catchy\, and ever-evolving. \nRounding out the night\, Vash the Stampede infuse their emotionally charged rock with lush violin textures and thick\, crunchy guitars. Born from Marty Lee’s introspective Ephemeral EP\, the band now features Conor Lee\, Hope Hook\, Jake Gau\, and JT Viele. Their music balances heaviness with melody\, sorrow with hope—a perfect prelude to a night that refuses to sugarcoat anything. \nThree bands. One unforgettable night. Doors open early—grab a pint\, stake out your spot\, and let the amplifiers speak.

SUMMARY:Second Hand Dan | Larrikins | Moneybones
DESCRIPTION:Second Hand Dan\nSecond Hand Dan is a dual-vocalist Minnesotan indie rock band consisting of Collyn Camara (lead guitar)\, Graden Hill (vocals/guitar)\, George Knier (keys)\, Ben Schwartz (drums)\, and Rachel Scott (vocals/bass). The group has been gigging regularly in the Twin Cities for well over a decade. Their evolution is captured across the 2020 LP From Nothing to Nothing\, 2023’s Before We Dry Up\, and the songs they’re currently debuting live. Between shows\, the band is currently in the studio working on the new set of recordings.\n\nLarrikins\n“I want to get stuck in their heads”\, was what Tom Blackburn (song writer/guitarist) was thinking to himself when he decided to try his hand at songwriting. Blending various pop and rock influences\, with an emphasis on catchy/jangly guitars and a strong rhythm section\, Larrikins aims to write songs that are as fun to listen to as they are to play. Enlisting long time friends Brian Wahl (vocals/bass) and Kevin Zech (vocals/guitar) and the addition of Ryan Babiracki (drums)\, transformed the bedroom jingles into hard hitting pop rock bops.\n\nMoneybones\nMoneybones is a rock trio from Minneapolis. Tight and heavy\, yet groovy and melodic. The rhythm section has played together since childhood and their frontman fits like he was always supposed to be there. Three years in\, they sound like a band that’s been doing this much longer. Their one single “False Faces” is out now.\n\n\n\n\nJoin us at Day Block Brewing on Thursday\, August 20\, for an evening of original Twin Cities rock featuring Second Hand Dan\, Larrikins\, and Moneybones. \nHeadlining the night is Second Hand Dan\, a dual-vocalist indie rock band that has been a fixture of the Minnesota music scene for well over a decade.
