Join us Friday April 15 for bluesy folk quartet Hello Como and craft pop quartet Southern Resident Killer Whales. It will be an evening of folk, acoustic indie, craft pop, and rock, along with a generous and pleasant mixture of the four. Hello Como kicks things off at 9:30, with the 'Whales taking the stage at 10:30.
Cover is $5 at the door.
Warning: experiencing a Hello Como live show may cause pleasant hallucinations of sitting on your porch during a beautiful summer day, sipping your favorite drink. Additional side effects include, but are not limited to: spontaneous dance sessions, abrupt and often uncontrolled "woo-ing," and feeling as if you could take on the world.
The following experience has been prepared for you based on years of sassy self-expression interspersed with moments of spiritual nature communion. Please view responsibly and always consume with copious amounts of alcohol.
SOUTHERN RESIDENT KILLER WHALES
Minneapolis acoustic indie rocker and songwriter Dan Hylton presents his newest effort, Craft Pop quartet Southern Resident Killer Whales. With one foot in the singer-songwriter “storyteller” tradition and one in lush, pop” arrangements, this brand of Craft Pop is something like the crossroad between a slightly offbeat Glen Hansard and a slightly upbeat Morrissey.
“…fresh, smart, yet deeply personal and emotional words capturing life’s significant moments and its lessons taught”
(Christine Mlodzik, Rift Magazine)
“Hylton makes an indelible mark...balances quirky humor, clever slice-of-life observations, and raw emotion.”
(Peter Vallely, MPR 89.3 The Current)
Southern Resident Killer Whales are currently recording the EP "The Legendary Seasides."
