Residing in (and named for) a building built in 1883 that’s been everything from a hospital to a furniture store to–if local stories are to be believed–a house of ill repute, Day Block pays tribute to their home’s history by naming beers after past tenants.

Day Block Brewing Company welcomes families of all types to their brewpub. To prove it they’ve got kid-friendly drinks on the menu that include craft sodas and in-house lemonade. And on beautiful sunny days they encourage you to bring the family dog out onto their patio while you enjoy specialty pizzas and house-brewed beer.

Day Block is one of the few breweries in the downtown metro offering food, beer and a full-service bar. You’ll find pizza, sandwiches, salads and a variety of bar snacks. But this isn’t your typical bar food. Almost all of their ingredients are locally produced and their food is made from scratch.

I’d say 90% of the breweries around here aren’t trying to have any sort of live music thing, and so that’s pretty unique and super helpful for the community. They’re doing a really good job.
