Fortunate Suns
Fortunate Suns are a hypnotic fusion of psychedelic improvisation, southern country rock, & heavy distorted riffs. The boys are known for high-energy, & improvisational live shows that get the audience moving. No show is ever the same! In 2025 we released our debut EP, Last Train Out, & exactly one year later released LIVE AT THE AMSTERDAM on 4/4/26. We’ve been actively performing across Minnesota since last August & can’t wait to see you at the show!
Lazy River Road
Lazy River Road is a Grateful Dead tribute band from Mankato that includes one of our members, Austin Sadler. Both bands will play together during our encore for a few songs. We ran this same setup at Amsterdam in February, and it was a great turnout! Everyone’s stoked to bring it back to Day Block.
Get ready for a night of soaring jams, psychedelic grooves, and unforgettable live music at Day Block Brewing on Saturday, August 22, featuring Fortunate Suns and special guests Lazy River Road.
Fortunate Suns have quickly established themselves as one of Minnesota’s most exciting live acts, blending psychedelic improvisation, Southern-inspired country rock, and heavy, riff-driven energy into a sound all their own. Known for high-energy performances and spontaneous musical exploration, the band approaches every show as a unique experience—no two sets are ever the same. Their dynamic live presence has earned them a growing following across the state since they began performing regularly in 2024.
The band released their debut EP, Last Train Out, in 2025, showcasing their signature mix of expansive jams, melodic songwriting, and powerful rock instrumentation. One year later, they captured the energy of their live performances with the release of LIVE AT THE AMSTERDAM on April 4, 2026. Whether delivering driving rock anthems or stretching songs into hypnotic improvisational journeys, Fortunate Suns are committed to keeping audiences engaged, moving, and coming back for more.
Joining the bill is Mankato-based Grateful Dead tribute band Lazy River Road. Dedicated to celebrating the music, spirit, and improvisational tradition of the Grateful Dead, the group brings beloved classics and deep cuts to life with authenticity and enthusiasm. The connection between the two bands runs even deeper, as Fortunate Suns member Austin Sadler also performs with Lazy River Road.
The evening will culminate in a special collaborative encore featuring members of both bands sharing the stage for a selection of Grateful Dead favorites and jam-friendly surprises. The combination proved to be a crowd favorite during a packed performance at Amsterdam Bar & Hall earlier this year, and everyone involved is excited to bring the experience to Day Block Brewing.
Don’t miss this one-of-a-kind night of music, community, and improvisation.
