Join us on the patio at Day Block Brewing on Thursday, July 30, for a special summer evening celebrating the album release of songwriter and guitarist Matt Herzog and his band.
Following a solo debut album that spurred five years of performances, songwriter/guitarist Matt Herzog was inspired to record his second album, Under The Stack, which fuses American Rock genres and the soulful, funky-blues sound of Minneapolis.
Herzog curated the group of diverse musical backgrounds starting with pocket bassist Tim Kennedy and skilled drummer Graham Peterson delivering the tight, rhythm section. Maia Sletten’s pristine, folksy harmonies complement Matt’s captivating lyrics and crafty guitar hooks while keyboardist George Bergh accompanies it all through melodic, instrumental passages.
The addition of a horn section (Brady Moroney/tenor sax, Rob Kocher/trumpet, Brian Robran/trumpet) has expanded the group’s sonic range and live energy. Still, the collective is intentional about listening for the explosive or delicate dynamics that the moment calls for.
Under The Stack, recorded at The Terrarium (Engineer Jason Obergfoll), mixed by Kevin Bowe and mastered by Bruce Templeton has a street day of 7/31/2026 with two tracks releasing throughout July.

Northern boys with a southern twang. Cain & Co. brings the traditions of Skynyrd up north. Hailing from St. Paul, MN, Michael “Chris” Cain leads a dynamic blues-rock ensemble steeped in Southern tradition. Drawing inspiration from legends like The Allman Brothers, American Aquarium, and Blackberry Smoke, the band crafts a sound that’s both soulful and electrifying. With Gabe Voland on guitar, Gunnar Bergman pounding the drums, Gavin Peterson holding down the bass, and Doug Grimm adding depth on keys, they create a musical journey that resonates with authenticity and grit.

Opening the evening is Michael Chris Cain and Cain & Co., a blues-rock powerhouse from St. Paul. Inspired by bands such as Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Allman Brothers Band, and Blackberry Smoke, the group delivers a gritty, soulful sound full of Southern swagger and Northern heart.
