Montoya Machine
The Montoya Machine is here to create music.
In 2022, Montoya picked up a guitar for the first time in 15 years. In the past, Montoya composed everything inside a DAW, relying on digital instruments and sequencing. But as he looked to the future, he strummed a Telecaster — and inspiration poured out. Dozens of demos soon followed. Montoya brought these songs to Wally Joseph, and together they spent months refining and completing them. Through this process, Montoya realized he couldn’t do it alone. He needed other musicians — other moving parts — to build The Montoya Machine. Each member plays a vital role, creating something greater than the sum of its parts. Launched in 2025, The Montoya Machine’s live iteration embraces a deliberately human approach: eschewing the sterile precision of digital production in favor of the raw, imperfect beauty of music performed entirely by human hands. Their live shows are delivered with the spirit and feel of an era from the past, while their songwriting looks firmly toward the future.
